Bundled up
Saidie came to us with very few possessions. She had the clothes she was wearing, the photo book and the translated letter we sent to her, this loved-on teddy bear,
and this gift from the orphanage.
The clothes she wore probably belonged to the orphanage and not specifically to her. Still, those garments are very precious to us. We will preserve them for her, as we did Maimie's. Eventually I may frame them for hanging on the wall, but currently they are in a large bin with other gifts from China we will someday give to Saidie.
To give you an idea just how cold it was in Shenyang, here are photos of the clothing Saidie wore on Gotcha Day.
First there was the outerwear:
Winter coat, snow pants, hat, scarf, snow boots.
Then there were the under layers:
Thermal sweatshirt, thermal sweatpants, socks, long sleeved t-shirt, long pants, and heavy sweater. It's really no wonder the poor baby was so sweaty by the time we got back to our hotel. Curiously enough, there wasn't a pair of underwear under there.
And even though most Chinese babies and small children are quite bundled up throughout all of China regardless of weather, Shenyang was bitterly cold when we visited. So, really Saidie's clothing was pretty appropriate.

Wow! She really did have layers. Couldn't tell by the picture.
Wonderful keepsakes for Saidie! The gift from the orphanage is precious! Imagine she feels so free now without all the layers! Love the teddy bear!

It amazes me what they dress them in, but what precious keepsakes these are! The teddy is so sweet with one eye missing and the gift is beautiful.
I saw this on a blog that I read, today, and thought of you. How to Make Chinese lanterns for New Year:

I may have to try to make one just out of colored paper :)
