Hearing test results

About a month ago Saidie was sedated for her ears to be cleaned, a tube to be inserted, and finally her hearing was tested using brain electrodes.  Yesterday we visited the ear doctor to get the final results.  The tube was in place, the other eardrum had healed, and the hearing test results were obtained.
I've got to admit, I expected some slightly abnormal results.  What I didn't expect was to nearly lose it in the office.

Saidie's hearing tested completely within normal range in both ears.

I feel so humbled by this evidence of God's hand on Saidie.  I can't help but think back to almost exactly one year ago when we were given Saidie's referral information.  We were faced with some scary words:  facial cleft, hemifacial microsomia, conduction deafness in both ears, abnormal hearing tests, unable to express herself verbally.  I remember being concerned about conduction deafness.   It involved such a wide range of possible scenarios and question marks.

We prayed and stepped out in obedience at that time.  How amazing it is to me that God had already decided that Saidie would be spared of the challenge of deafness.

We praise God for this answered prayer!

Praise the Lord! Answered prayers for certain. Have been wondering about her results! What a blessing! Loved the photos--especially with the turquoise plaid shirts and the pig tails!!

Great news, Monica!! So glad to hear that Sadie's hearing is normal!! I'd be thrilled someday to hear the same for Jimmy, but I'm not counting on that based on the audiogram I have for him. I didn't realize Sadie has hemifacial microsomia!! Jimmy's paperwork doesn't use that terminology, but I believe that's what he's got--both ears deformed, severe hearing loss in both ears (though this was buried in an audiogram and never listed with his other SNs!), and partial facial paralysis. Just surprised to hear of someone else with the same issues! I'm hoping to go to Shriners for ear reconstruction, but due to budget cuts, they are not currently doing hearing aids so I'll have to go elsewhere if he needs BAHAs.

Thank God you won't have to deal with deafness... I just think that would be very hard for a child, especially that has experienced all the change Sadie has... Has she lost weight? Maybe just a growing-up spurt? but she looks like she's lost weight since the last time I was here. Not to stress you, if you already weren't :))) You guys are doing an awesome job! Keep up the incredible work & love. especially for the adults in the family :)

Thank God that Sadie won't have to deal with deafness, along with all of the other challenges she's had to face in her short life. Or you won't either. Seems you are taking wonderful care of her, getting every issue evaluated and putting her health in the forefront. Yeah for you! Has she lost weight? Maybe a growing spurt? Just seems like she's just not as filled out as she was (for lack of a better word) Anyway, not to stress you out, although I'm sure you have been. You all look excellent! Keep giving all the awesome love, and especially to the grown ups too! I love to watch you do this and would love to myself, I'll just be in the cheering section! God Bless your wonderful family!!! :D
