Go, Team!

We had a great time in the Chicago area this past weekend for the Lego Robotics State competition. The weather was absolutely frigid on Friday, earning the kids their third straight snow day of the week. We left shortly after noon, ate lunch at Culvers, and headed for Schaumberg. By the time we arrived at the hotel and got settled, it was time to feed the troops. We found a Gino's Pizza nearby and a Meijers for snacks/breakfast. Our hotel room was fabulous and quite roomy for the 6 of us.

Early Saturday morning we headed to the competition in the driving snow but had trouble with the directions and nearly arrived late. The day was filled with table competitions, presentations, judge interviews, and an awards ceremony.

Jacob's team competed well and was even mentioned as one of the top five nominated for the Ambassador's award. Originally we had thought we would drive home Saturday evening, but by about mid afternoon we were all fairly exhausted and Dad was kind enough to let us stay another night. We ate at Portillo's before heading back to the same hotel in a different room. Showers, movies, and relaxation were on the agenda. The next morning we slept in before enjoying the delicious breakfast in the dining room.

As we left the hotel, we couldn't help but notice that the Woodfield Mall was only a couple of blocks away. We thought it would be a shame to be that close and not stop by. So after walking around the mall for a couple of hours, we were ready to be stuck sitting in the car for the 3 hour drive.

Congratulations Jacob on your trip to the State Competition for Lego Robotics. Sounds like it was a full day but an exciting one too. Glad the family got to spend the extra night and that everyone enjoyed the weekend. Gino's Pizza is good!
Loved Maimie's crime fighting outfit. Looks like she might be thinking up some mischief to get into!
