The Appointment

The adoption process has been consuming me.  I've been focused for so long on getting the paperwork together, trying to beat the averages at each step and getting discouraged when I don't, checking Rumor Queen charts daily to see who's waiting on which approval, devoting a corner of the bedroom to the mountain of things that need to be packed, and nesting to the point of organizing junk drawers and ironing the dress shirts my boys never wear.  You know...your basic obsessive behavior.
But this morning it felt like more than just a process.  And all of this stuff I've been doing is really just the busy-work.  The important part is the little soul getting ready to join our family.
This little soul:

You see, I called the scheduling desk at Maimie's ear doctor this morning.  I asked them for an appointment for my daughter.  I spelled her name and gave her birthdate.  I explained that she has conduction deafness in both ears.  I gave our insurance information.
And they gave her an appointment, December 3.  And I hesitated, not knowing if we'll be home by then.  So we changed it to December 16 instead.  The truth is that I don't know if we'll be home for that date either.
Still, there's a little note on my calendar that marks Saidie's ear appointment.  Makes it seem like it's really going to happen.
After all, it is on my calendar.

Wow, that would be wonderful if Saidie is home to keep her appointment! God knows the exact time she needs to be "home". Dec. 16 seems so far away but when you look at the calendar it really isn't! Praying you will be able to keep that appointment!
