Open Market

We met a Christian couple (Todd and Wendy) from the States in Nanning and ran into them again in Guangzhou. They took us to an open market where we saw a lot of interesting stuff.

Scorpions

Snakes and beetles

Turtles

Cats (not good times for Tabby) and Chickens...

Catch the men sorting sea horses toward the end of the video...

Oh, my, now that is up close and personal with too many "creatures" for my liking!!! I imagine the boys were in their element though! I noticed Mikaela stayed a fair distance away--don't blame her. Was that Monica who got down to see the seahorses? So glad you are experiencing so many different things of the culture. You will have so many films, photos and memories to share with Maimie when she is old enough to understand. Sure hope you are all journaling!!! Enjoy the nice weather because we are in the midst of another snow storm but it is supposed to get to a whopping 30 degrees on Saturday--a real heat wave to welcome you back to Illinois. We will have the winter coats at the airport for everyone!!! Maybe a couple of blankets for the car, too? Anxious to see everyone on Saturday!
P.S. There wasn't any sound on this one.

You really have to be there to understand the smells and atmosphere. When we had Kali with us we got to the cats and pointed to the scorpians so she wouldn't go and release them. The open air markets are the real China.
We are loving your blog! This is trip you will never forget!
