Christmas Blessings

Christmas Blessings from our family to yours. Here are a few photos of our holiday. We have truly been blessed in 2008.

'Tis the Season

The holiday season is generally busy with all of the kids having Christmas programs and activities. This year has been no exception. Last week Jacob and Joseph had their band/choral concert. Joseph plays the trombone in the 5th grade band.

Jacob plays the baritone and sings in the chorus. (His eyes are barely visible above the music stand in the back row.)

The acoustics were very nice in the performance area of the new school building, and we enjoyed hearing the boys actually playing their instruments (since we rarely hear them at home). Mikaela's high school band/choral concert was held on Sunday afternoon.

While the music was lovely, the view was amazing, too. The madrigal students wore tuxedos and formal gowns. Mikaela looked a bit too grown up for my liking. On Sunday morning Maimie participated in her Christmas program at the church. The video work is sub par, but it shows Maimie singing her 2 songs. And, no she is not waving at us! She saw Mrs. Imig, our piano teacher, and a couple of the Thompson family's teen girls.

Grandpa and Grandma visited for the programs and church service.

Backtracking a bit to Saturday, Jacob and Joseph participated with their Lego Robotics teams in the regional competition at Bradley University.

Both teams did well, but Jacob and the 7th and 8th grade team will be moving on to the State competition next month.

This was the first year either of our boys participated, and it was actually a lot of fun watching their robots, presentations, etc.

Ye Olde English Madrigal Feaste

This weekend our high school held its Madrigal Dinners in the new cafetorium and stage area. The tables were all lovely, and the meal was delicious. Everything looked very festive and medieval. The Madrigal singers and actors did a wonderful job. Mikaela's dress was ready in time and just beautiful (thank you, Kathy!). We set her hair with hot curlers and twisted part of it up and decorated it with a jeweled ribbon. Most of these photos were taken during the dress rehearsal when her curls didn't last as well. Also, some of the singers were not at the rehearsal and others weren't in complete costume.

I've added some video clips to give a sampling of the evening's performances.
